Praise the Lord

Psalm 150:6
Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

There may be little else we have, but if we still have breath in us, then let us praise the Lord. We may be poor in possessions or poor in spirit, but the life within us is reason enough to praise God. And all that we need is breath to praise the Lord. We don’t need to have high status or be rich or famous. We don’t need to have great wisdom or spiritual insight. We don’t need to have had great experiences or done great things. All we need to do is turn our eyes and our focus upon our Lord, and it will be hard to contain our praises to Him for all the great things He has done. And it is a universal thing. Anyone anywhere can praise the Lord.

It is such a little thing to ask and may seem such a small thing to offer, but our praises can rise to great heights and rest very near to God upon His throne. And He savors and delights in them because we were created to praise Him. And so when we are fulfilling our purpose, when everything is working out just how it is supposed to, there is great peace and great harmony and great joy in that. And it draws us ever closer to Him as we reside perfectly in His will, focusing on Him and cultivating a grateful heart.

And as long as our praises are directed upward to the Lord and not horizontally to someone else or something else or even inwardly toward ourselves, then they are pure and righteous and acceptable to God. Because the truth is that He is the only one worthy of any praise. He is the only one who deserves our undying favor and our ultimate affection and the best that we can give. And only our holy, righteous, gracious and loving God warrants our complete and total admiration, reverence, and adoration.

So let us use the breath that we have within us to praise the Lord. May our praises be constant and heartfelt and give glory to Him. And may we never offer anything less than our best, and may we never cease to remember all that God has done for us, and may we never fail to recognize the blessings that He bestows upon us. May our true desire be to praise and honor our God in all things. So let us all praise the Lord this day.
