Psalm 119:41-48

41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Now we can accept freely what we know God’s Word promises us and ask for those things to come to pass in our lives.  His Word talks much about how merciful God is and that He will show us mercy.  It shows us the way of salvation.  It shows us what we can receive from God.  And those things work internally so that our outward responses change, as well.  The Word that builds up in our hearts spills forth into our actions and responses.  We will speak that truth that we know in our hearts as we trust all that God says to be fulfilled.  And because it has come to mean so much, we are willing to always obey, to never cease to follow God’s law.

God’s Word truly sets us free.  His truth sets us free.  Through it, we are free from the old and sinful versions of ourselves.  We are free from condemnation and judgment.  We are free from the chains of our past, this world, and our enemies.  We are free from guilt and shame and those oppressive things that kept us in a place of bondage.  And then we are free to testify, to boldly proclaim the reasons for the hope in us.  We will be willing to share God’s truth with others, no matter how fearsome or powerful they may be.

And as God’s Word continues its work in us, that only causes us to love it even more, to delight to know more about God, to delight to follow His ways, to find our satisfaction in that and therefore not need or seek the world’s approval.  And with His Word sinking so deep into our hearts and becoming so meaningful to us in our lives, that draws praise and worship from our hearts and new songs of thanksgiving for all He has done in us.  It makes that desire for connection and fellowship stronger, and so we are willing to spend time, to meditate and learn and grow even more.
