Psalm 119:25-32
DALETH.
25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

It starts with a desire in our hearts to know God and to know His Word.  But eventually we have to start to put it into practice.  It can become more real to us, solidified through the trials of life.  We may have to take a stand for it.  It takes on new meaning in the midst of life lived on this Earth.  Now we’ve toddled beyond those baby steps into real life, and it’s not easy, so sometimes we just need a little reviving.  At times we can feel beaten down by trials or people or circumstances.  We may feel overwhelmed and overtaken, but God promises us new life in the midst of all of that, and we can find it in His Word.

There are still more lessons to learn as we continue on this journey through life and through God’s Word.  And as we continue learning and growing, we find opportunities to share what we’re learning with others.  We find strength when we hit weak places.  We start to make changes in our lives.  We commit to separating ourselves from ungodly things and following God’s ways instead.  We leave behind our old ways and stick to this new path no matter what.

When we are willing to make that kind of commitment, we’ll stick with it even when it’s hard—maybe even especially then, because we’re seeing what a difference it can truly make in our lives in such practical ways.  It will get easier to make right decisions.  We’ll be able to make connections between what we are experiencing and what we’ve learned in the pages of Scripture and be able to apply His truth to our lives.  We’ll gain a greater and greater capacity to know and understand God’s Word and God Himself.  God’s judgments are the stepping-stones that form our path through life, and they will lead our way into the kind of life that God wants us to live when we make the choice to follow what He says.
