Truth Revealed

Matthew 24:29-30
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

That moment of certainty will come.  Those who scoffed at Jesus, those who rejected Him will see Him and know in that moment who He is.  They will know that He is real and that they denied Him the chance to be their Savior, and they will have to live with the consequences of that choice.  They will mourn to know that Jesus is true and they didn’t believe.  And in that moment they will face the excruciating loss of knowing for sure the realness of Jesus Christ and then having to depart from Him forever.

So may we live today to help spare people from that horrible fate.  Let’s do all we can to reach all we can.  Let us not compromise truth and confuse people with deception or try to entice them with other things.  But we must combat Satan’s deception with the pure and holy truth of God so that the blind may see, the lost can be found, sinners can be saved, and people all around us can be spared of this moment that will one day come.  Because in the end, the most important thing is that Jesus is true.

And even if there are generations yet to come between now and the day of Christ’s return, the work we do now will stretch on to that day.  We could never know the effect that one person we reach today will have on future generations for the cause of Christ.  It’s important to tell people about Jesus, to tell them the truth of salvation, to tell them that they are sinners and Jesus is the only way.  Souls are at stake for all eternity.  And one day it will be too late to make that decision.  And perhaps one of the reasons God doesn’t reveal that exact day is so that every generation will live as if Christ’s return will happen in their lifetime, because that creates an urgency in our work and a more fervent effort to spread the good news of Christ.

One day, the Light of the world will once again shine upon this Earth, and His glory will be revealed.  But until then, we are to reflect the light that Jesus has given us into the darkness around us.  His return will be unmistakable.  It will be visible to everyone.  There will be no more denying Him as absoultely true.  So let us be faithful to proclaim that message until we go to be with Him.  Let’s labor so that the first glimpse people get of Jesus isn’t their last, but may they come to know Him so they can eagerly await the day they see their Lord.
