Be Amazed

Romans 11:33-36
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!  For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?  Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

No matter how much we know about God, we can never know all of Him.  He is indeed unsearchable.  Job was confronted with this, as was David and many others in Scripture.  We can see just by His Word and by His world that He is so much more than we will ever be able to discover.  Our limited minds can’t always see how judgment and mercy can coexist.  Our limited thoughts can’t scratch the service of God’s wisdom.  Our understanding can never comprehend the true essence of all that God is.  He is truly supreme, existing before everything else, and ruling over all.

Instead of being discouraged by that, we should be encouraged that God goes beyond what our small minds can comprehend.  So that means He is bigger than we think.  He is higher.  He is more—more amazing, more loving, more powerful, more everything.  And when He is more than we can know, nothing can ever come along that He isn’t enough for.

But just because we can never get down deep into the core of everything that God is doesn’t mean we shouldn’t search and seek as much as possible.  Just because we can’t know all about Him doesn’t mean we don’t try to learn anything.  He is so amazing, so pure and holy, righteous and good, powerful and wise.  He is our Creator who wants a relationship with us, so that means getting to know about Him as much as we can and in whatever ways we can.  And the more we learn, the more we are just simply left in awe of His greatness.

So truly, our great God deserves all the glory.  How can we see our smallness compared to His vast greatness and not desire to praise Him and honor Him?  There will never be another more worthy.  And this great God, totally beyond our complete comprehension, so much more than we could ever imagine, wants to be near to us.  And that is truly humbling and amazing.  So let us draw ever closer, keep learning of Him, and seek to glorify Him always.
