Matthew 5:15
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

We are the candles lit by the hand of God and placed where He wants us to be.  He puts us on a candlestick in darkened places to shine forth the light He has given us.  It is His light that sets us aflame, and it is on Him that we stand, with His power and His authority behind us to give that light forth to others.  That light is truth in the midst of a multitude of lies.  That light is love in a world filled and fueled by hate and bent on destruction.  That light is peace in a world of constant conflict and turmoil.  That light is hope for every pitch-black soul.

So let’s stop hiding and stop hiding our faith and be the lights that God intended us to be.  He will enable us and shine through us if we’ll simply be His willing vessels.  So let’s be burned down evermore in giving that light to others, used up for the cause of Christ—not hoarding or hiding, but giving—so that others can carry forth that light to another place and so light the world for Christ’s sake, proclaiming Him and His love, His grace and mercy, His purity and truth.

The darker a room is, the brighter the light seems, no matter how small it may be.  And we may feel small or insignificant wherever God has placed us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a difference where we are.  We may be the only source of light in that place, and though the glow may be faint, it is there and can be seen.  And when we are allowing Jesus Christ to shine through us, He will draw people to that simple glow.  And when we allow Him to be magnified in our lives, those small flames can burn brighter and brighter.

We are here on this Earth to be used by God.  He has given us His light so that we can shine for Him.  He has saved us so we can help others to be saved.  So let us not waste time or opportunities or chances, but seek to proclaim Christ in every part of our lives to everyone around us.  Let us be those beacons of hope for those still stumbling in the dark and be a help and a blessing.  If we are on fire for God, that light can’t help but be seen, and everyone around benefits from it.
