So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
The sound is ringing out still in our world today. The name of Jesus is being proclaimed in faithful churches and ministries around the world. Believers still live out lives that proclaim His truths. And the Spirit of God still takes the message deep into the hardest hearts. The Word of God has stood the test of time and endured all the way to today. His truths and principles remain practical and relevant to our lives as they lead and guide us into a godly way of living. The message of peace is still available to all who would accept it.
At one point, it could be said that the entire world had heard the Gospel, but generations are rising up today who have no real clue what the Bible says. Generations are rising up who would never set foot in a church and yet would seek to make up their own version of what so-called religion should be about. Babies are being born whose parents and families would never consider taking them to church or teaching them Bible stories at home, and we must reach these people. We must share the Word of God with them somehow so they can hear those words of truth that can change a heart so significantly and lead to faith in Jesus as Savior.
Let us look around us at the people we see every day—family, friends, neighbors, co-workers—and ask ourselves if they’ve heard the Word of God. And if they haven’t heard it from someone else, perhaps they need to hear it from us. We’re not all teachers, but we can talk about God and His truths and the things in His Word. We don’t all preach, but we can bring people to church to hear someone else preach. We can’t save a soul, but we can tell them Jesus is there to save if they will only trust in Him and let the Spirit guide them into His presence.
Some of the world has heard and refused, but that shouldn’t stop us from going forward still. Some may have heard and rejected, but we can’t give up on those souls who will accept Jesus if we go and tell one more time. It is a simple message we bring, and it can still change lives today. So may those of us who have found faith in God make sure that message continues to echo out into the world that so desperately needs to hear it.
