More of Jesus

John 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

There is always more to Jesus than we might imagine.  There is more to Him than we can see and understand.  There is more than could be written in a book that gave account of Him.  There is more to Him than our current experience reveals to us.  There is more to come beyond these lives of service He calls us to and the purposes He fulfills here.

There is within Him a greatness that far surpasses any other.  There is His abounding love and mercy and grace that proves sufficient every time.  There is the glory of Him beyond this human form He revealed to the world at His first coming.  There is yet more to know of Him as we continue our walk with Him here and then one day when we go to be with Him where He is.

This is how John ends his Gospel, and it almost seems as if he regrets that he couldn’t say more than all of the amazing things he had previously shared, having walked so closely with Jesus for those three years of His ministry.  He tried to wrap up as much of Jesus as he could into those pages, but any book about Jesus is bursting, wanting more, because the eternal Son of God can hardly be contained in anything tangible and finite.

Even so, impossible as it may seem, may we seek to fill up our lives with as much of Jesus as possible.  May we be continually discovering and seeking for the more that there is to know about Him.  May it be that when we come to the end of our own story, we find the pages of our lives cannot contain all that Jesus has done in and through us, all that we have come to know and love about Him, all those ways we have seen Him work as we’ve walked with Him here.
