John 12:9-11
Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.  But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

Imagine what it must have been like for Lazarus to experience what he had gone through.  He had become a celebrity of sorts.  He was known as the one who Jesus raised from the dead.  His mere presence on earth was a testament to the power and the working of Jesus Christ.  He had endured that sickness unto death.  He had suffered and then died.  But all of that had a purpose, because then Jesus came and called him forth, and he walked back into life.  And just him being alive led others to believe on Jesus.

Our conversion is just as dramatic, in a way.  We were once dead in our sins.  There was no life in us, only corruption and darkness.  But then Jesus came and intervened.  And when we responded to His voice, we were given new life.  And now our lives that we live through the power of Christ are testaments of His power and His working.  Our lives that we live after our salvation are testimonies of the love and grace of God.  Our mere existence as Christians walking among the world should help point others to Jesus.

But that new life that Lazarus had received put him in the cross hairs of the Pharisees, too.  They opposed Jesus and anything that was evidence of His power, anything that might make people start to believe that He was of God.  Satan and his own still today seek to destroy those things that will cause others to believe on Jesus, even if it means trying to destroy us, but we have God’s power of life within us to overcome the enemy.

So how are we walking in that new life that Christ has given to us?  Is it evident that we have been changed and transformed by His Spirit within us?  Are we reflecting Jesus to people around us?  Has God worked in us in such a way that others can’t help but be drawn to Jesus simply by the way we live?  It’s not always easy to live for God, to be righteous, to make choices that glorify God in our lives.  But may we strive to point others to Jesus so they can experience new life in Him.  May our lives truly be testimonies of the difference that only Jesus can make.
