1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

Too often we can be so lax and casual about our walk with the Lord.  It sometimes just becomes another part of our life, something we concentrate on only part of the day or part of the week.  But in order to live the kind of life that is pleasing to God, we have to take it seriously and have a proper perspective, and we must be willing to do whatever it takes to maintain a right relationship with Him.

Our God is a holy God, and we need to serve Him in a holy and righteous way.  We need to live for Him a sanctified life that honors Him.  How, then, can we walk before Him with dirty clothes and feet, with impurity and sin staining our lives, with prideful attitudes and arrogance and not humility and meekness?  How can we constantly go before Him with selfish motives and attitudes, expecting things from Him to consume upon our lusts?

God has done so much for us and continues to do so.  And He has called us unto Himself to be conformed to His image, not the world’s.  He’s called us to righteousness, not evil.  He’s called us to a life of separation from the worldly and fleshly, not a life of sinful indulgence.  So we must walk in a way that gives Him glory and not reproach.  We must live lives that represent Him well before a watching world.  We must conduct ourselves in such a way that we don’t dishonor Him.  We are serving the King of kings, and so we should act accordingly.

God deserves our honor and respect.  He deserves all glory and praise.  He deserves any sacrifices we might have to make.  We should be willing to change things in our lives for His sake.  It should matter to us how we conduct ourselves since we are representing Christ if we call ourselves Christians.  So let us surrender anything that is getting in the way and walk worthy of God in our lives.
