For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Jesus came into our world as one of the most fragile things that exists: a human baby.  For a time He would be totally dependent on His parents.  He would have to grow and gain strength and wisdom.  But for all He had yet to be, He encapsulated all that God was even in that tiny fleshly body.  He was, somehow, fully man and yet fully the holy God who created all that exists.  He was the pure light that can only come from heaven, full of the true glory of God.  And though He had yet to do anything at all, He was already King of kings and Lord of lords.

Jesus in His human form was, in many ways, a depiction of all that God is, so not only was He holy and full of light, He brought with Him redeeming grace.  By His grace, we can have salvation.  By His grace, we can know God and receive healing and be blessed in untold ways.  By His grace we receive a portion of all that God is through His Spirit.  We have His light in our lives.  We strive to be holy as He is holy.  We bow before Him as our Lord.

The Bible says that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  So Jesus is still all of those things He was—holy and righteous, full of light, full of glory, full of grace and mercy.  He is still our Lord and a King on His throne.  He is still giving of Himself to each of us as He dwells in our hearts and intercedes on our behalf.  For 33 years, people got to see God up close in the flesh.  But someday in eternity, we look forward to that day where we will see Him as He is in his true glory, where we will look upon His face and worship in His presence forever.
