Eternal Praise

Psalm 113:2-3
Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.

There are few things on Earth that remain constant.  Change is a part of life on every level in every different facet of creation and society.  But one thing that has been a constant in this world is praise to God.  Even though many turn away and deny Him or worship other gods, from the time of Adam to today, there have always been people praising God.  And praising our great God is something that will last for all of eternity.  It is something that is part of the history of our world, something we participate in now, and something that we will do forever.

Praise is an “all day, every day” thing.  There is never a time not to praise the Lord.  We can praise Him as the sun comes up, when things are going well, when a day is dawning and all hope is in front of us.  And though it may seem easier to praise God when everything is going our way, there is still the danger of taking it all for granted and forgetting where those blessings and good things originate in our lives.  But it is good to live with a recognition of the source of the many blessings we have.

But then we can also praise God in the evening as the sun sets and night falls upon us and it seems like everything good is behind us.  And the reason we can do that is because God is the same at both of those times.  He is still God, and He is still good, even if what we are facing is not.  Those times of shadows will come, but God has not forsaken us, and though the night has risen, God does not sleep.  And we can be thankful and grateful for His presence and His help in even the darkest times we’ll face.

So are we willing to glorify God no matter what?  Will we be mindful of praising Him always?  God is another of those constants that doesn’t change for all of eternity.  And because He is a God who warrants praise, He will always be so.  We can never praise Him too much, but can we ever praise Him enough?  There are so many reasons to praise Him, and a lot of those reasons are also constant due to His unchanging nature.  So, as He constantly deserves our praise, may we praise Him eternally.
