Romans 12:4-5
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
It’s okay to be different. We’re not all the same, and we can’t be for everything to work how it should within the body. We each have our part and our role that God gave to us, so let’s embrace that and give ourselves wholly to it and not worry that we can’t or don’t do the same things that someone else does. That’s like the hand longing to be the foot and failing because it wasn’t made to be walked on. But just because we are different doesn’t mean we should be divided.
Christ is what unites us. He is the head of the body, so He guides and directs and uses each one according to His will and His purposes. He convicts each individual heart and compels each one to their called service. He directs each heart to the ministry He wants it to perform. He shows the path and enables us in doing those things He asks of us. He gives the gifts and the talents at His discretion to be used for serving Him in our lives. He controls and dictates all the members of His body.
So our part is to join together with each of the members and support and edify each one to continue on in what God has given them to do. May we never hinder the work of God with attitudes of jealousy or envy. May we never neglect to do what He has called us to. May we never try to pass off our duty to someone who was not called to it. And may we always have that spirit of unity that so pleases our Lord as we serve Him faithfully together.
Because we are the body of Christ, we are all part of each other. We complement each other in ensuring that everything can get done, the work will be accomplished. And when each individual is committed to their God-appointed role, the body functions properly. Amazing things can be accomplished. God is glorified and then He is also pleased with us. The unsaved can be grafted in. And each one benefits from the support, encouragement and help of all the others. So let us do our part with joy in our hearts and love for each other.
